Q: How do I get to Bald Head Island?
A: Bald Head Island is just a short ferry ride from Southport, NC.
The ferry leaves at the top of hour every hour from Deep Point Marina
in Southport daily. Please visit https://www.baldheadisland.com/island/ferry
Q: Is the Bald Head ferry a vehicle ferry?
A: No, it is a passenger ferry only. One of the unique things about Bald Head Island
is that no cars are allowed on the island. You may see the occasional service vehicle,
but no personal cars or trucks are allowed on the island.
Q: If I can't bring a car, how do I get around?
A: Transportation on the island is limited to golf carts, bicycles and walking.
Riverside Adventure Co. has bicycles available for the whole family and you
are also permitted to bring your personal bicycle over on the ferry. Bicycle
reservations are recommended Labor Day to Memorial Day and can be made here.
Riverside Adventure Co. also has beach chairs and umbrellas available for
rent once you reach the island.
Q: How big is the island?
A: Bald Head Island is 4.8 miles long and 2 miles wide.
Q: What is there to do on the island?
A: The Riverside Adventure Co. family has a lot of activities
available throughout the season. A full list can be found here
but some favorites are our free Sunset Celebration
held on Monday nights and The Ghost Walk (reservations required).
Will O' the Wisp (located beside The Sail Shop on Keelson Row) is home
to nightly events like Trivia, Bingo and our Friday Night Concert Series.
Of course there are also Bald Head's amazing beaches and the
Maritime Forest Preserve.
Q: Do I need to make reservations for the ferry?
A: Seating on the ferry is first come first serve, no reservations are accepted.
However, if you are staying on the island the ferry offers a free tram service
that will pick you up at the ferry and take you to your home and reservations
for the tram are recommended Labor Day to Memorial Day.
